Although her parents are renowned Shakespearean actors, Miranda's performance in a school play is disastrous.  Before she can get away to hide, Stephen, a castmate, whisks her to sixteenth century England to meet--and save--the young Will Shakespeare.  Pamela Mingle has been a teacher, a librarian and now she is a writer.  When Mingle discovered Shakespeare may have been a school teacher it planted the seed for Kissing Shakespeare.  One of Milgle's favorite books from 2012 is Grave Mercy, a book I loved as well!

Meet Pamela Mingle and other authors at the Books and Bites events at the Arvada Library on September 20, 6-8:30.

Do you like stories that will make your spine tingle with fear?  Mackie Doyle knows that he replaced a human child when he was just an infant.  Now, when a friend's sister disappears, he goes against his family's and town's deliberate denial of the problem to confront the beings that dwell under the town, tampering with human lives.  Yovanoff is also the author of Paper Valentine and The Space Between

Meet Brenna Yovanoff and other authors at the Books and Bites event at the Arvada Library on September 20, 6-8:30.

We've got a great event happening in a few weeks at the Arvada Library. Join us from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 for our first ever Books and Bites night. More than 30 local authors will be on hand for you to talk with. Kids, teens, fiction, non-fiction, history, sci-fi…nearly every genre will be covered!

Talking to all these amazing authors may work up your appetite. Not to worry, though, there will be some great food trucks out in Olde Town Square for you to replenish your energy. Sample delicious fare from Hey PB&J, Scrumptious, CKrepes and Eighty Ate while you're there!

And lest we not forget, the always entertaining Suzi-Q will be there displaying her face painting talents for the kids.

Make sure you peruse our blogs for spotlights on some of the authors participating in Books and Bites:

The library will be hosting an author event in September where you can rub elbows with local authors who write for teens.  One of our featured authors is Melanie Crowder, author of Parched.  In a South African land parched by drought, Sarel and her parents fight for survival on a daily basis.  Sarel’s parents lose this fight when they are shot by gang members, who then burn the family residence to the ground.  Not sure what to do, Sarel moves into the dog kennel and spends her days searching for food and water to keep both herself and the dogs alive.  Soon after, Musa, a boy who was kidnapped and forced to drowse for water in the gang that burned Sarel’s home, arrives badly injured.  Musa may be Sarel’s only hope for survival.

Meet Melanie Crowder and other authors at Books and Bites at the Arvada Library on September 20, 6-8:30.

The library will be hosting an Author event in September where you can rub elbows with local authors who write for teens.  One of our featured authors is C.S. Shride, winner of the Colorado Book Award.

Lucy Dakota is one cool teenager. She climbs mountains, braves roiling white water, rappels off cliffs and travels the world! Best of all, she isn't afraid to be herself. But it wasn't always this way. Lucy's story is my story. It's your story. It's anyone who's ever been bullied's story. Anyone who's ever been pressured to do something they didn't want to's story. Anyone who's ever wanted desperately to fit in or belong's story. Lucy Dakota isn't different from other teens - she is just like them.

Meet C.S. Shride at Books and Bites at the Arvada Library on September 20th, 6-8:30.
