Would you like to help your children be good readers?

Certainly, there are many aids available, but one of my favorites is READING ROCKETS

What a great multimedia source of information for parents, teachers, librarians and other caring individuals to help launch strong, confident readers.  There's a wealth of information from research to current articles to interviews to helpful tips and much much more.  Public Broadcasting and the U.S. Department of Education partner to bring it to you online, on PBS television, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and iTunes!  So start your exploration of this great resource at Reading Rockets!

Sometimes it can be a struggle to keep our children entertained while in the waiting room at the doctor's office, or on a long car trip. If the same old toys and distractions aren't working, why not try downloading a kids' eBook from the library? Jefferson County Public Library has a small (but growing!) selection of picture books, readers and chapter books available for kids.

All digital materials can be found under Downloads on our new website, jeffcolibrary.org.

Children's books are located in the Juvenile section of our Overdrive digital download service. Search within Juvenile books using the search box at the top of the screen.

If you are an eBook newbie and need detailed instructions on how to download books to your digital device, never fear. The Downloads page of our website has device-specific instructions for your digital device. Just click on your device type to get started!

Do your little ones love to tap and swipe on your tablet or e-reader? Please share stories about your children and technology in the comments!

As you might imagine, we at JCPL love National Library Week!  It gives us another opportunity to let you know how great the library is and to pass on some new ideas for reading and sharing information.

National Library Week is sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries around the country each April.

Spending quality time with our kids is so important.  But, in our fast-paced lives, finding time together can be hard to accomplish.  Time is short, budgets are tight and planning even a small outing can be a challenge.

Luckily there are things to do, adventures to begin and amazing things to learn - right at the library!  There are lots of ideas on the @ Your Library web site on how to make the library a familiar friend for the whole family!

See you @ the library!
